The conference Dnevi slovenske informatike (Days of Slovenian Informatics) 2022 took place on 11 and 12 May in Portorož. Dr. Andrej Bregar has been lecturing at the conference for 20 years, and at this year’s event he participated with the paper Decision Support for Industry 5.0, prepared in cooperation with Sašo Gjergjek.
Industry 5.0 is a new paradigm that is emerging as a supplement and enhancement of the established and widespread industry 4.0. Concepts of automation, digitalization, Internet of Things, big data and artificial intelligence are complemented with human-centricity, active cooperation between people and cobots, and decision-making on the basis of human knowledge and expertise.
In his lecture, dr. Bregar defined and described key principles on how to introduce multi-criteria decision models, decision-making procedures and decision support systems into information systems and business/production processes for industry 5.0. He justifed the motivation to aggregate objective holistic decisions that are inferred automatically from big data with subjective judgments and knowledge of human decision-makers. The authors draw parallels with constructive learning which underlies the paradigm of multi-criteria aggregation-disaggregation analysis. They defined the possibilities and principles on how to use decision methods, and specify, model and aggregate preferences. Dr. Bregar also introduced a generic decision-making process for industry 5.0, which he practically applied on a use case of dynamic electricity energy supply market. At the end he explained the importance of multi-criteria decision-making and decision support for industry 5.0.
